Big Pricing Change at PVTF I (Stringtown, PA)
We have decided on a trial season of one single price per species. We are going to eliminate the measuring step and sell you any size tree at the same price. I'll bet a lot of people will pick a tree that's bigger than they thought it was. If you want a big tree and don't want to pay big $'s, this is the year!
We also offer Choose-n-Cut "Plus". We will cut your tree (if desired) and retrieve it from the field for you for $10.
Now are you ready for the PVTF I Choose-n-cut prices? Drum roll please!
ALL Pines ANY Size....$19.99
All Spruce Any Size....$24.99
All Douglas Fir Any Size...$29.99
Any Caanan Valley Fir or Concolor fir up to 9 foot...$39.99 !!!
Yes, we do have larger fir 10'-14' ...priced reasonably.
PVTF II (Garrett Co. MD) goes to Pay One Price! $29.95!!
As many of you know, our Garrett Co, MD farm is the source of all of our always popular Fraser fir and many of our Canaan Valley fir. Starting for 2011, all of our trees, no matter what size, will be $29.95! That's right...a 10' fir for $29.95! A 7' tree also $29.95! If you can't cut it and bring it in with all of your friends or family, we'll cut it and bring it out of the field for $10. Remember, if you are looking for a big tree over about 8', we may not be able to put it through our baler. You may need to beg, borrow , or steal a truck...but the price really will be only $29.95!
Our new Wreath Operation
As of mid July we are in the process of building our new wreath room in the main 1880’s barn. It will allow our customers to better view and be involved with what happens in the art of wreath making. Large windows will allow you to view your very own wreath being made and decorated!
Douglas Fir is Back! (and it’s on sale)
Following 2 years of late season frost, we have rebounded with a wonderful supply of Douglas Fir this year. Any Douglas fir at our PA farm is only $29.99 at any size.
Oh Dog Gone!
This year we will celebrate the memory of Oscar, our older Bassett Hound and a 10 year veteran of snack bar “customer service”. We remain dog friendly and invite you to bring your dog with a leash. Herbie can be a little grumpy with other dogs at times, but we do not see any real problems. All of the dogs love kids!
Our “Almost All American” (AAA) Christmas Shop
With more and more Americans involved in making quality crafts at affordable prices, we are making a BIG change in our shop inventory. For 2011 look for almost all of our items to be crafted in the U.S. Exceptions will be made as appropriate or as necessary. For example, if a craft is indigenous to a particular country such as glass from Europe or pottery for Mexico, it will be included
We have already grouped our entire remaining inventory that is “Made in China” and it will be cleared out at 50% off when we are open beginning in November.
We are always looking for unique quality products to bring to our customers. If you or your friends make unique crafts and think it is something that we might include in our inventory, we invite you to contact us, preferably by e-mail at pvtf@hotmail.com.
Ground Hog Hole Alert!
I have fallen into Ground hog holes a couple of times this year as have our elves. There seem to be more on the hill at PVTF1 than elsewhere, but they can be about anywhere on both farms. Please be careful and read the "Tips and Trips" section.
Mr. Christmas Tree’s Tips and Trips
Tip #1: Almost all of the trees in Garrett County are UPHILL of our service area. That means after you cut the tree its all DOWNHILL. We have sleds or tree carts at both locations.
Trip #1: It is when you are looking up to see the top of the tree that you will fall in a groundhog hole!
Tip #2: Late in the season, the better trees really are further out in the field, but I guarantee we have them.
Trip #2: The stump you could trip on is halfway between 2 TREES.
Tip #3: For a Really BIG Tree, First do some planning. Call us with your needs and we will get you started on a great choose and cut outing, or we can have a tree pre-cut and ready for Pick-up. Many of our larger trees CANNOT be bailed, so bring your family and friends and a TRUCK!
Trip #3: If you trip, let go of your saw and grab the nearest Christmas Tree. Many times you can stop a fall.
Tip #4: When removing your tree from the field, plan your exit route. Read Trip 4 and don't pull the tree over or step on small trees. The baby tree that you are careful around could be your Christmas Tree in 2021!
Trip #4: Watch out for Ground Hog holes! They can be about anywhere, but walking with the tree rows allows a much better view.
2011 Wholesale Update
Our trees have really GROWN and our prices have really WILTED! We are overstocked with great quality Douglas Fir. There are so many 1st quality trees that we are filling ALL orders with #1 Premium Quality at slashed prices and eliminating #2 grade sales this year That’s right, every tree sold will be a #1 premium in any species or size at a price equal or LESS that last years #2 grade!
